Transcriptome mining of active biosynthetic pathways with their associated (known and unknown) products was achieved in Streptomyces flaveolus at the transcriptional level, where a key linkage of converting the genotype to the chemotype exists. This approach complements recent advances in genome mining and potentially benefits natural product discovery from strains whose genomes have not been sequenced.
